Anum Uzair, a Pakistani climber from Lahore, has successfully reached the top of Broad Peak, which is situated in Pakistan’s Karakoram range and is the 12th highest peak in the world at 8,051 meters. With this accomplishment, she becomes the second female mountaineer from Pakistan to summit Broad Peak, after Naila Kiani. Anum has already ascended Nepal’s Manaslu mountain, making this his second climb of an 8,000-meter mountain.
Both climbers, led by Shahroze Kashif, achieved the top of Broad Peak, as did American Pakistani climber Ammar Butt. Along for the ride were High Altitude Porters Ali Hoshi and Ali Akbar, who together helped the party reach the summit. The foursome arrived at the top on Saturday around 11:30 AM, according to sources. About five miles separate Broad Peak from K2, the second-highest peak in the world.
