Pakistani-American Salman Bhojani wins Texas assembly election unopposed

Pakistani-American Salman Bhojani has won a second term in the Texas State Assembly, representing District 92, this time without opposition.

Originally from Karachi, Bhojani assumed office on January 10, 2023, as a Democrat. In the 2022 election, he defeated his Republican rival, Joe Livingston, with 20,182 votes to Livingston’s 14,610. Running unopposed in 2024 may reflect the strength of his previous performance.

A graduate of the University of Texas in Dallas with a law degree from Southern Methodist University, Bhojani has a background as an attorney and former city council member.

The lack of a Republican challenger in this recent election allowed him an uncontested victory.

Throughout his campaign, Bhojani emphasized the impact of local and state elections and encouraged the Pakistani-American community to engage, underscoring that voting is a powerful tool for influencing legislation and shaping their communities.
