Lahore is set to witness a historic development as Pakistan’s first tunnel boring sewerage project has been officially approved. The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has given the green light, marking a new era in the country’s urban infrastructure.
The project aims to install an underground sewerage system without disturbing the daily lives of residents. It will cover more than 32 kilometers of sewer lines, stretching from Larix Colony to Gulshan Ravi. This will provide a permanent solution to drainage problems in the densely populated areas of central Lahore.

This technology increases the life span of the pipes to over 100 years, ensuring long-term durability. The project’s planning and design have been carried out by the well-known American consultancy firm EBA Engineering. It will be connected to the Babu Sabu Wastewater Treatment Plant, making the city’s sewage management more efficient.
