Mohsin Naqvi, who also serves as Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), held a meeting with Sunil Kumar Gamini, Sri Lanka’s Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation in sports, particularly cricket.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on matters of mutual interest and agreed to expand collaboration between the PCB and Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Sports. The discussions focused on strengthening ties through joint initiatives, training programs, and greater engagement in cricket and other sporting disciplines.
A key outcome of the meeting was a mutual decision to promote closer cooperation for the development of cricket as well as other sports in both countries. Officials emphasized that sports diplomacy can play an important role in deepening bilateral relations.
Naqvi remarked that renewed warmth is entering relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka and expressed confidence that cooperation in cricket and sports would further strengthen mutual ties. He also appreciated the excellent arrangements made during the recent T20 World Cup, acknowledging the hospitality extended by the Sri Lankan hosts.

“I received a lot of love in Sri Lanka and I thank them for the wonderful hospitality,” Naqvi said, highlighting the positive atmosphere of engagement.
The PCB chairman also extended a formal invitation to Minister Sunil Kumar Gamini to visit Pakistan, aiming to continue discussions and further solidify sporting collaboration.
The meeting was attended by Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Major General (Retd) Faheem Aziz, PCB Advisor Aamir Mir, Chief Operating Officer Sameer Ahmed, and Pakistan Super League (PSL) Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer.
The engagement signals a renewed push to leverage cricket — a sport deeply cherished in both nations — as a bridge for stronger diplomatic and cultural relations.
