Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has called for administrative reforms to improve governance, highlighting the country’s rapid population growth over the past five decades.
Speaking at a press conference, the DG ISPR noted that Pakistan’s population has increased from around 70 million in 1972 to nearly 250 million today, while the country continues to have only four provinces. He said this demographic expansion calls for a serious discussion on administrative reforms to ensure more effective governance and better public service delivery.
According to the DG ISPR, a significantly larger population has placed greater demands on government institutions, infrastructure, and public services. He emphasized that strengthening administrative structures is essential to meeting the needs of citizens and improving governance across the country.

The remarks highlighted the importance of adapting administrative systems to Pakistan’s changing demographic realities. Effective governance, he said, requires institutions that can efficiently manage population growth and support sustainable national development.
