The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has sealed 32 illegally operating hotels and hostels during a crackdown on commercial activities being run in residential areas across Lahore.
The operation was carried out by the LDA Town Planning Wing (Zone IV) in Johar Town’s R-2 and R-3 blocks, where several buildings approved as residential properties were found to be operating as commercial hostels and hotels in violation of building regulations.
According to LDA officials, the enforcement campaign is part of a broader effort to ensure compliance with zoning laws and prevent the misuse of residential properties for unauthorized commercial purposes.
Authorities also announced that similar operations will continue in other parts of the city, including Johar Town, College Road, UMT Road, Township, areas surrounding DHA, and Raiwind Road. More illegal hostels and hotels operating without the required approvals are expected to face action in the coming days.
The LDA stated that unauthorized commercial establishments in residential neighborhoods have contributed to several urban challenges, including traffic congestion, parking shortages, drainage problems, and increased pressure on public infrastructure.
Officials emphasized that the crackdown aims to improve urban planning, protect residential communities, and ensure that commercial activities are conducted only in areas designated for business use. Property owners have also been urged to comply with building regulations to avoid legal action and future penalties.
