Pakistan, Belarus Move to Expand Agri-Food Trade Through Online Business

Pakistan

Pakistan and Belarus have agreed to strengthen agricultural and food trade by promoting online business-to-business (B2B) opportunities between companies in both countries.

The agreement was reached during a meeting between Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain and Belarus Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Yakovchits Aleksander.

The two sides will facilitate online B2B sessions to connect businesses and create new commercial opportunities. Key products include seafood, citrus fruits, mangoes, fruit puree, potatoes, seeds and dairy products.

Pakistan and Belarus also agreed to encourage businesses to participate in food exhibitions and agricultural trade fairs in both countries. These events will provide companies with opportunities to showcase products, establish partnerships and explore new markets.

Both sides will further facilitate visits by agricultural and business delegations to identify investment opportunities and strengthen technical cooperation.

The discussions also focused on fish farming and modern aquaculture, with Pakistan and Belarus agreeing to exchange technology, expertise and best practices.

Pakistan additionally proposed establishing an agricultural machinery testing centre at the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council, with technical and financial assistance from Belarus. The proposal will be assessed, including equipment requirements and potential locations.

Technical expert teams from both countries are expected to exchange visits by the end of 2026.

The growing cooperation could open new export opportunities for Pakistani agricultural and food producers while bringing Belarusian technology and expertise into Pakistan’s agriculture sector.

Could stronger Pakistan-Belarus cooperation give Pakistani farmers and exporters better access to international markets?
