Bangladesh has signalled that it is open to exploring a potential economic or defence framework involving Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia, a move that could add a new dimension to regional cooperation.
Bangladesh’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir said Dhaka would consider such an arrangement while taking into account its national interests, changing global economic conditions and evolving international trade dynamics. His comments suggest that Bangladesh is keeping the possibility open as regional partnerships continue to develop.
The country is also looking to strengthen its practical relationship with Pakistan, particularly in areas such as trade, economic cooperation and people-to-people connections. Stronger bilateral engagement could create opportunities for increased commercial activity and closer links between the two countries.

A wider framework involving Bangladesh, Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia could potentially bring together countries with significant economic, strategic and diplomatic interests. However, Bangladesh’s position appears to be focused on evaluating any proposed arrangement according to its own national priorities rather than making an immediate commitment.
According to Bangladeshi media reports, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is also expected to travel to Saudi Arabia following an invitation from the Saudi Crown Prince. Such high-level engagement could provide another opportunity to discuss regional cooperation and bilateral relations.
If Bangladesh eventually joins a broader economic or defence partnership with Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia, it could represent an important development in South Asian and Middle Eastern diplomacy. For now, however, Dhaka appears to be keeping its options open while assessing how such cooperation could serve its economic and strategic interests.
