The federal government of Pakistan has officially announced the Petrol and Diesel Prices, with a notable decrease in petrol prices and a slight increase in high-speed diesel rates. A notification has been issued by the Ministry of Finance, and the new rates will be effective from midnight tonight.
Key Changes in Petroleum Prices:
- Petrol: Decreased by Rs. 7.54 per liter
- New price: Rs. 264.61 per liter
- High-Speed Diesel: Increased by Rs. 1.48 per liter
- New price: Rs. 285.83 per liter
These new rates will remain in effect for 15 days, starting from August 1, 2025.
Earlier, there were speculations that petrol prices might drop by Rs. 9.07 and diesel by Rs. 3.73 per liter due to fluctuations in international oil markets. However, the final adjustment was less than expected. In contrast, kerosene oil was expected to become costlier by Rs. 3.55 per liter and light diesel by Rs. 2.33 per liter, though no confirmation has been given yet regarding these changes.

This latest revision follows several recent price changes:
- July 15, 2025: Petrol was increased by Rs. 5.36, and diesel by Rs. 11.37 per liter. Light diesel saw a reduction of Rs. 1.85.
- July 1, 2025: A major hike of Rs. 10.39 was recorded in petroleum prices. Petrol went up by Rs. 8.36, and diesel by Rs. 10.39 per liter.
Why Do Prices Change?
Fuel prices in Pakistan are revised every 15 days based on global oil market trends and exchange rates. The government adjusts these prices to balance inflation, oil import costs, and public affordability.
