Pakistan and Kazakhstan have pledged to increase their bilateral trade volume to $1 billion within the next year, highlighting the growing economic potential between the two nations.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made the announcement on Wednesday during a joint press conference with Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who is on a two-day official visit to Pakistan. The leaders emphasized the shared commitment to expanding trade, investment, and economic cooperation across multiple sectors.
During the press conference, a signing ceremony was held, marking the conclusion of agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between the two countries. A total of 27 MoUs were signed, covering areas such as petroleum, mining, maritime affairs, and other key economic sectors, signaling a comprehensive framework for collaboration.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed optimism about the potential for growth, stating that both countries possess complementary strengths and that enhanced trade ties would benefit industries, create employment opportunities, and strengthen regional economic integration.
