Good news for Pakistan’s environment! A new company has been started that will use drones to keep an eye on things from the air. This is the first company of its kind in Pakistan, and it’s all thanks to Imran Hamid Sheikh, who is the head of the environment department (Director General of Environment). He wants to use this “aerial surveillance” to help protect the country’s natural beauty and the health of its people.
These aren’t just regular drones, though. They have special thermal technology, which means they can see things like heat. This will be really useful for finding pollution that you can’t easily see with your eyes. The people who work in the environment department’s special mapping section (GIS wing) have already started using these drones out in the field. They’re like environmental detectives in the sky!
Mr. Imran Hamid Sheikh actually came up with this idea a few months ago and called it the “Hawk Eye Project.” Think of these drones as the hawk’s eyes, soaring above and spotting things that could be harmful to the environment.
He explained that this new aerial surveillance company will be like a watchdog, keeping an eye on industries and other things that might be damaging the environment. If a factory is releasing harmful pollution or if someone is doing something they shouldn’t, these drones can spot it and report it. This will make it much easier to catch people who are not following the environmental rules.
But it’s not just about catching the bad guys. Mr. Sheikh also mentioned that this company will help make sure that the environment department’s own staff are doing their jobs properly. It’s like a way to double-check everything and make sure everyone is working effectively to protect the environment.Karachi Professor Develops Environment-Friendly Cement: A Step Toward Sustainable Construction
One of the first big tasks for this new company is to create a detailed digital map of all the industries and brick kilns in the country. This “e-mapping” will make it much easier to monitor these places and see if they are following environmental regulations. Imagine having a digital blueprint of all the potential pollution sources – it would make the job of protecting the environment so much more efficient!
In fact, the GIS team has already used these drones to find some problems. They reported four different industrial sites and even an empty plot of land where they found hundreds of bags full of carbon. This shows that the technology is already working and helping to uncover potential environmental issues.
This new aerial surveillance company is a really innovative step for Pakistan. By using technology like thermal drones, the country is taking a proactive approach to protect its environment. It’s like giving the environment a powerful set of eyes in the sky, making it harder for polluters to hide and easier for the authorities to take action. This “Hawk Eye Project” could really make a big difference in keeping Pakistan green and healthy for the future.
