In order to improve bilateral commercial and investment relations, the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) underlined the necessity of direct flights between Pakistan and Indonesia. Zafar Bakhtawari, Secretary General of United Business Group and former President of ICCI, emphasized the importance of direct air connectivity between the two nations in order to strengthen current ties and maximize tourism potential during Indonesia’s embassy’s 79th Independence Day flag hoisting ceremony.
In addition, Bakhtawari greeted the Charge’d’Affaires on behalf of the business community and restated the business community’s commitment to promoting social prosperity and sustainable economic progress for both countries. He mentioned the good relations that Pakistan and Indonesia have with each other, which are based on shared religious, historical, and cultural bonds that have only gotten stronger over time. In addition, he conveyed Pakistan’s appreciation to Indonesia for its assistance in the conflicts of 1965 and 1971.
He said that Indonesia’s economy is the biggest in ASEAN and the globe, ranking 13th overall, with projections to rise to the fourth rank by 2045. Representatives from the business sector, think tank specialists, significant religious leaders, members of the Indonesian emigration in Pakistan, journalists, and officials from the Indonesian Embassy attended the ceremony.
