The Punjab government has entered into a service-level agreement under the Suthra Punjab programme to facilitate the collection of monthly sanitation fees from households and commercial units. The programme covers cleanliness and waste-management services across the province, with dedicated service offices and complaint channels already operating under Suthra Punjab.
According to the details provided, the agreement for the 2026–27 financial year assigns the X-ICE Department responsibility for collecting the monthly charges from residents in areas including Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi.
For households, the proposed monthly charges are based on property size:
- Up to 5 marla: Rs. 300
- 10 marla: Rs. 500
- 10–20 marla: Rs. 1,000
- 20–40 marla: Rs. 2,000
- 40+ marla: Rs. 5,000
Commercial properties would also be charged according to their size:
- Small: Rs. 500 per month
- Medium: Rs. 1,000 per month
- Large: Rs. 3,000 per month
Suthra Punjab is the province-wide cleanliness programme responsible for waste collection and related services. Its official platform currently provides citizens with bill-checking facilities, complaint registration and a helpline at 1139.
The Punjab government also established the Suthra Punjab Authority through legislation in February 2026, giving the programme a formal legal framework for waste management and sanitation functions.
