New Zealand Introduces Business Investor Visa 2025 for Pakistani Entrepreneurs

Business Investor Visa

New Zealand has unveiled a new Business Investor Visa that will be open for applications in November 2025. The program is aimed at global entrepreneurs, including investors from Pakistan, who wish to build or expand businesses in New Zealand while securing a pathway to long-term residency.

A Replacement for the Old Entrepreneur Work Visa

This visa comes as a replacement for the now-closed Entrepreneur Work Visa. While new applications for the old visa are no longer accepted, those who already hold it can still renew or apply for permanent residence under the previous rules.

Investment Routes Available

The Business Investor Visa offers two distinct routes:

  • NZ$1 million investment (approx. Rs180 million): Leads to residency after three years.
  • NZ$2 million investment (approx. Rs360 million): Provides a fast-track route to residency within 12 months.

Pakistani citizens can qualify by either purchasing a business outright or buying at least 25% ownership in an existing New Zealand company. The visa has a four-year validity and costs NZ$12,380 (around Rs2.2 million). Applicants may also include their spouses and dependent children in their applications.

Requirements for Pakistani Applicants

To be eligible, Pakistani investors must:

  • Be 55 years of age or younger.
  • Meet English language requirements, such as IELTS 5.0 or equivalent.
  • Prove access to NZ$500,000 (about Rs90 million) to support their family during the initial setup phase.
  • Show evidence of business experience.
  • Pass health and character checks.
  • Commit to creating at least five full-time jobs for local workers.

Businesses such as gambling, tobacco production, adult entertainment, franchises, fast food outlets, drop-shipping, and home-based setups will not be approved under this category.

Boosting the Economy

Officials said the visa is part of broader immigration reforms that aim to strengthen New Zealand’s economy by bringing in high-value investors. It will run alongside the Active Investor Plus Visa, with more details and comparisons expected in October 2025.

For Pakistanis, this initiative is a major opening—offering not only a chance at residency but also the opportunity to tap into one of the world’s most stable economies while contributing to local job creation.
