Karachi Police have issued a strict warning that aerial firing on New Year’s Eve will be treated as attempted murder, as authorities move to prevent injuries and loss of life during celebrations.
Senior police officials stated that zero tolerance will be enforced against anyone involved in aerial firing. Cases will be registered under serious criminal charges, and those found guilty will face strict legal action.
To maintain law and order, the city administration has imposed Section 144, banning aerial firing, display of weapons, and other dangerous activities. Police have intensified patrolling, snap checking, and surveillance across Karachi, especially in sensitive and crowded areas.
According to police sources, hundreds of licensed weapons have already been taken into custody as a preventive measure. In addition, 1,431 police officers and personnel have been deployed at key locations, including main roads, residential areas, and popular celebration spots.

Special security arrangements have been made in areas such as DHA and Clifton, where temporary road closures and traffic diversions will be enforced to ensure public safety and smooth traffic flow. Police and traffic wardens will remain on high alert throughout the night.
Karachi Police have urged citizens to celebrate responsibly, avoid dangerous practices, and cooperate with law enforcement agencies. Residents have also been advised to report any incidents of aerial firing or suspicious activity immediately.
Officials emphasized that aerial firing has caused numerous deaths and serious injuries in the past, often harming innocent people, including children. “One bullet fired into the air can take a life,” a police spokesperson said.
The police reiterated their commitment to ensuring a safe and peaceful New Year celebration and appealed to the public to help make the night joyful without risking lives.
