Skardu Airport Upgrade Project Proposed to Enhance Aviation Facilities

A major upgrade has been proposed for Skardu Airport to improve passenger handling capacity and modernize aviation infrastructure in the region. The project includes the expansion of the existing Passenger Terminal Building along with the construction of a new Air Traffic Control (ATC) Tower, a modern Fire Station, and a dedicated Cargo Terminal.

Officials have also proposed the construction of a completely new Passenger Terminal Building to accommodate the growing number of domestic and international travelers visiting the scenic northern region of Pakistan. The expansion plan aims to improve operational efficiency, safety standards, and overall passenger experience.

Once completed, the upgraded airport is expected to support increased tourism, strengthen regional connectivity, and boost economic activity in Gilgit-Baltistan by making Skardu more accessible for both local and international flights.
