Pakistan is aiming to significantly increase its rice exports to China, with expectations of shipping around 600,000 metric tons of hybrid non-basmati rice to the Chinese market this year. A senior member of the rice exporters association said the target reflects growing opportunities for Pakistani rice exporters and could strengthen agricultural trade between the two countries.
The development comes as China has reportedly imposed restrictions on some Indian rice exporters over concerns linked to the use of harmful fertilizers. This situation could create additional space for Pakistani suppliers in the Chinese market, giving local exporters an opportunity to expand their presence and secure new buyers.
