The Gates Foundation is planning to support around 620,000 women and children in Pakistan this year through a range of programs focused on financial assistance, nutrition, livelihoods, and access to essential citizen services.
A major initiative in South Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is expected to reach approximately 170,000 women and 450,000 children. The support aims to improve household wellbeing while creating better opportunities for women and strengthening services for children.
The foundation is also expanding its work in maternal and child health, women’s economic participation, and human capital development. Emerging technologies are part of this effort as well, with discussions including the potential use of AI-based healthcare solutions to improve access and delivery of services.

Broader economic cooperation was also discussed with Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb. The talks covered areas including SME financing, digital innovation, agriculture, private investment, and economic reforms.
Both sides reportedly agreed to strengthen cooperation in health, financial inclusion, human capital development, and digital technology. Such partnerships could play an important role in improving access to services while supporting economic opportunities for vulnerable communities.
With hundreds of thousands of women and children expected to benefit, the initiative could have a meaningful impact on families across different parts of Pakistan.
