The International Cricket Council (ICC) has expressed satisfaction with the comprehensive briefing provided by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials regarding preparations for the 2025 Champions Trophy, sources revealed to Geo News on Monday.
The planning details were discussed during an ICC meeting attended by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. PCB officials assured ICC board members that the upgrades to the stadiums set to host the event are progressing as planned, with all remaining work expected to be completed on time.
Naqvi extended an invitation to ICC board members to visit Pakistan to review the preparations for the major event and invited them to return once the tournament begins.
The Champions Trophy is scheduled to take place in Pakistan from February 19 to March 9, 2025. However, the tournament faces challenges, including uncertainty over the participation of the Indian cricket team.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is seeking approval from the Indian government to travel to Pakistan for the tournament.
Earlier, the PCB suggested that the Indian team could return to India after each match to limit their stay in Pakistan during the Champions Trophy, according to The News.
It’s important to note that India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral series since 2012-13, and India’s last visit to Pakistan was in 2008.
