The Punjab government has launched the second phase of the CM Punjab Agriculture Internship Program 2025, led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. This initiative aims to provide practical training, financial support, and employment opportunities for young agriculture graduates while modernizing the farming sector in Punjab. Under the program, 2,000 interns holding BSc Agriculture or BSc (Hons) Agricultural Engineering degrees will receive a monthly stipend of Rs60,000, enabling them to gain hands-on experience and contribute to agricultural advancements.

How to Apply:
Applicants can submit their forms to the Deputy Director Agriculture (Extension) in their respective districts. A district-wise quota system ensures equal opportunities for candidates across Punjab. To provide assistance, the government has also launched an Agricultural Helpline (0800-17000) for applicants and farmers who wish to learn more about modern farming techniques.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif called this program a step toward creating a “golden-yielding Punjab,” highlighting how educated youth can play a key role in transforming traditional agriculture. She further emphasized the government’s ongoing initiatives, such as the Kisan Card Program, Green Tractors Scheme, and Tube Well Solarization Project, which aim to reduce costs and improve farming efficiency. Additionally, the Model Agriculture Mall will soon be introduced to offer all agricultural services under one roof.
This program not only empowers graduates but also encourages farmers to adopt modern agricultural tools and practices, boosting productivity and crop quality across the province.
In another major development, the Punjab government is set to launch Pakistan’s first electric tram service in Lahore. Imported from China, the tram will initially run on Canal Road. With three interconnected units, the tram can carry up to 250 passengers and travel 25 to 27 kilometers after just a 10-minute charge. A pilot project has already started near Lahore Airport to test this eco-friendly transport system.
