Kuwait’s Defence Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah led a high-level delegation to General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, where he met Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security and bilateral defence cooperation. The talks focused on strengthening the relationship between Pakistan and Kuwait, particularly in the defence and security sectors.
Pakistan and Kuwait also reaffirmed their commitment to expanding institutional links and mutual cooperation in the defence sector. Stronger military-to-military engagement can help both countries improve coordination, exchange expertise and develop closer strategic ties.
The visit comes as regional security remains an important concern for countries across the Gulf and South Asia. Pakistan and Kuwait share longstanding relations, and defence cooperation has remained an important part of their bilateral partnership.
High-level meetings between defence officials also provide an opportunity to discuss emerging security challenges and explore ways to improve cooperation between the two countries. Continued institutional engagement could further strengthen the existing relationship between the Pakistani and Kuwaiti armed forces.
The latest meeting at GHQ highlights the importance both sides place on maintaining close defence ties and working together on issues related to regional peace, stability and security.
As Pakistan and Kuwait continue to deepen their bilateral relationship, defence cooperation is expected to remain an important area of engagement.
