Basant

Lahore is set to witness an extraordinary influx of visitors as the city prepares for the vibrant Basant festivities. Authorities estimate that close to one million vehicles, including over 500,000 cars and motorcycles, will enter Lahore during the three-day festival, transforming the provincial capital into a hub of celebration and mobility.

In response, the city has rolled out an extensive traffic and security plan. Around 10,000 police officers and 2,500 traffic wardens have been deployed across key points, with special patrol units activated along major corridors. Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Athar Waheed emphasized that additional staff will monitor all entry and exit routes to ensure smooth flow and public safety.

To further enhance oversight, Safe City Authority cameras will conduct live surveillance—particularly focusing on rooftop activities in the sensitive Red Zone. This integrated approach aims to balance festive joy with order, helping Lahore welcome the skies filled with kites while keeping its streets manageable and secure.
