Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif visited Kahna to meet the grieving families affected by the tragic roof collapse that claimed the lives of several children. During her visit, she expressed heartfelt condolences, met with the bereaved parents, and assured them of the Punjab government’s full support during this difficult time.
The chief minister comforted the families, embracing grieving mothers and offering words of sympathy. She described the loss of the young children as deeply heartbreaking and said no amount of financial assistance could truly compensate for the pain of parents who had lost their loved ones.
As part of the provincial government’s relief package, Maryam Nawaz announced Rs. 2 million in compensation for the family of each deceased child and Rs. 500,000 for every injured victim. She personally handed over compensation cheques to the affected families during the visit.
The chief minister also directed health authorities to ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured and instructed officials to provide every necessary facility to support their recovery.
Speaking to the families, Maryam Nawaz said the tragedy had deeply saddened her and assured them that the government would stand by them in their time of grief. She emphasized that the affected families would not be left alone and that every possible effort would be made to assist them.
The tragic incident has sparked renewed concerns about the safety of educational buildings and tuition centers across Punjab. In response, the provincial government has already ordered inspections of educational facilities and announced plans to strengthen safety regulations to help prevent similar incidents in the future.
The Kahna tragedy has left the entire province mourning the loss of innocent lives. The government’s compensation package and commitment to improved safety measures are intended to provide immediate relief to the affected families while addressing the broader issue of building safety in educational institutions.
