More Than 20,000 Women Entrepreneurs Receive Rs. 24 Billion in Loans from Banks: SBP

Rs. 24 Billion

More than Rs. 24 billion in financing has been provided to over 20,000 women-led businesses across Pakistan over the past year, according to fresh data issued by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). The central bank says this marks a major milestone in national efforts to promote women’s financial inclusion and strengthen their participation in the country’s economic growth.

According to SBP, the momentum reflects not only increased lending by commercial banks but also a significant expansion of outreach activities aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs. Throughout the year, banks and SBP teams organized over fifty nationwide sessions, directly engaging nearly 1,500 women business owners.

These engagements included:

  • SME Baithaks
  • Mentorship and networking programs
  • Financial awareness workshops
  • Business development and loan facilitation drives

Officials say these initiatives are designed to help women understand credit systems, improve financial planning, and access institutional support needed to scale their enterprises.

Expanded Outreach Planned for 2026

Building on last year’s progress, SBP confirmed that outreach efforts will now expand to more than fifty districts across Pakistan. Thousands of additional women entrepreneurs will be guided on how to apply for loans, manage business finances, and leverage commercial banking services to grow their ventures.

The central bank emphasized that creating an inclusive, supportive financial ecosystem remains a long-term national priority. Officials noted that women-led businesses consistently demonstrate resilience, creativity, and strong growth potential, making them an increasingly important force in productivity, innovation, job creation, and overall economic competitiveness.

Celebrating Women Entrepreneurs Nationwide

To celebrate this progress and accelerate momentum, the SBP announced that Pakistan Women Entrepreneurship Day will be observed on December 3, 2025. Events will be held simultaneously at 16 SBP field offices across the country.

Commercial banks will also organize activities through December 5 to showcase the achievements of women innovators, business founders, and employment generators. These events will highlight success stories, offer networking opportunities, and provide platforms for knowledge-sharing among women professionals.

A Strategic Step for Economic Participation

SBP officials say the ongoing push to support women in business is not only a social initiative but a strategic economic step. As financial institutions strengthen their focus on women clients, the entrepreneurship ecosystem becomes more diverse, dynamic, and sustainable.

With more than Rs. 24 billion already disbursed, Pakistan’s women entrepreneurs are emerging as a powerful engine of growth—fostering economic resilience, building local industries, and shaping the future of the country’s business landscape.
