Pakistan’s top weightlifter, Nooh Dastgir Butt, made a remarkable debut in powerlifting, claiming the Commonwealth Champion title in the 120kg category at the ongoing Commonwealth Powerlifting Championship.
In his first appearance at the event, Butt delivered an outstanding performance, winning three gold medals and one bronze. He lifted a total of 860kg in the open category, cementing his position as a formidable athlete in the sport.
Butt’s success extended to individual events as well. He secured gold in the squat by lifting 370kg and another gold in the bench press with a 210kg lift. He also won a bronze medal in the deadlift, lifting 280kg.
This debut marks a significant achievement for Butt, who previously garnered multiple medals in weightlifting. After transitioning to powerlifting due to differences with the Pakistan Weightlifting Federation, Butt has already found success, bringing pride to Pakistan on the global stage.
