A heartwarming story from Al-Asiyah, Qassim has resurfaced and is touching people around the world. In a rare and beautiful example of devotion, two Saudi brothers went to court—not to claim inheritance or property, but to earn the honour of caring for their elderly mother.
The elder brother, Hizam Al-Ghamdi, had lovingly looked after their mother for many years. Seeing how much effort his brother had put in, the younger brother approached the court with a heartfelt request: to take over her care so his older brother could finally rest.
When the judge asked the 100-year-old mother to choose who she wanted to live with, her response melted every heart in the courtroom. She said that her sons were like her “left and right eyes”—equally dear, equally precious, impossible to choose between.
To resolve the matter, the judge assigned the responsibility to the younger brother, ensuring the elder could take a break. Yet, both sons continued to visit her, love her, and support her until she passed away.
