Pakistan Becomes Founding Member of Global AI Cooperation Organization

Pakistan has officially joined the global artificial intelligence community by becoming a founding member of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization (WAICO). Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar signed the founding agreement on Pakistan’s behalf during his two-day official visit to Shanghai, China.

The agreement was signed at the organization’s inaugural ceremony, where representatives from 29 countries came together to establish WAICO as a platform for promoting international cooperation in artificial intelligence.

Speaking at the event, Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to advancing global collaboration in AI, particularly in supporting the interests of countries in the Global South. He emphasized the importance of ensuring equal access to AI technologies and reducing the global digital divide through international partnerships.

Pakistan also pledged to work closely with fellow member states to promote responsible AI development, encourage knowledge sharing, strengthen technological cooperation, and support innovation that benefits all nations.

The move marks an important milestone in Pakistan’s digital transformation strategy and reflects the country’s growing focus on emerging technologies, international collaboration, and the development of an inclusive and sustainable AI ecosystem.
