Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik has said that Pakistan is undertaking a comprehensive reorganisation of its energy security framework on the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) to strengthen the country’s preparedness against future energy challenges.
Speaking about regional developments, the minister said Pakistan must learn important lessons from the recent crisis involving Iran. He warned that failing to draw lessons from such events would be a serious mistake and stressed the need to build a more resilient and secure energy system.
Ali Pervaiz Malik revealed that he had personally briefed both the Prime Minister and the COAS on the country’s energy situation and the potential risks facing the sector. Following those discussions, work has begun on restructuring Pakistan’s overall energy security architecture to better safeguard the country’s long-term energy needs.

The government is expected to focus on strengthening strategic fuel reserves, improving energy infrastructure, enhancing coordination among relevant institutions, and implementing reforms aimed at reducing vulnerabilities in the energy sector.
Officials believe the planned restructuring will help improve Pakistan’s energy resilience and ensure a more secure and stable energy supply in the years ahead.
