Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered a comprehensive performance review of all federal ministries and divisions, launching an internal accountability process that could lead to a cabinet reshuffle, according to official sources.
The decision comes after Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s recent remarks sparked debate over the federal government’s overall performance. According to reports, the Prime Minister’s Office has directed every ministry and division to submit detailed performance reports covering the period from February 2024 to the present.
The reports must outline achievements, progress on policy objectives, governance reforms, and initiatives taken to improve public service delivery. Ministries have also been instructed to provide measurable outcomes, details of completed projects, implementation timelines, and evidence supporting every claim.

The review will assess 18 ministries responsible for economic and financial affairs, 14 ministries handling law, security, and administrative matters, and nine ministries overseeing social services, health, and education.
In addition, ministries are required to explain the status of pending projects, reasons for delays, implementation challenges, and the corrective measures taken to address them. They must also report on administrative reforms, cost-saving initiatives, and efforts to improve institutional efficiency.
The Prime Minister’s Office has made it clear that all performance claims must be backed by documentary evidence or other verifiable proof. Incomplete or unsupported reports will not be accepted, underscoring the government’s emphasis on accountability, transparency, and improved governance across federal institutions.
