This prestigious global recognition celebrates the country’s successful and impactful initiative to restore and protect the unique and economically vital Chilgoza pine ecosystems.
The project, a key component of Pakistan’s ambitious Ten Billion Tree Tsunami Programme, has focused on revitalizing thousands of hectares of forest in the regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. These forests are not only a critical reservoir of biodiversity but also a major source of livelihood for local communities through the harvest of the nutritious and valuable Chilgoza pine nuts.
