PM Shehbaz Sharif Announces Islamabad as 2027 SCO Summit Host

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, will host the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation SCO Summit in 2027. The declaration came during the inauguration of the city’s newly constructed T-Chowk flyover, a key infrastructure project aimed at easing traffic congestion.

The Prime Minister directed city administrators to begin comprehensive preparations immediately. These plans include building new accommodations for international delegates and launching extensive beautification and urban development projects across the capital.

PM Sharif described the upcoming summit as a landmark diplomatic opportunity, calling it a moment of national pride. The SCO Summit 2027 is expected to bring together leaders from across Asia, reinforcing Pakistan’s role in regional cooperation and global diplomacy.
