The Punjab government has approved the feasibility study for the construction of the Maryam Nawaz Sports City, a landmark project that aims to transform Lahore into Pakistan’s premier destination for sports and athletic development. Planned over 300 acres, the mega project is expected to provide world-class facilities for professional athletes, aspiring sportsmen, and the general public.
According to the approved plan, the Sports City will feature a modern multi-purpose indoor and outdoor stadium built to international standards. The project will also include an Olympic-standard swimming arena, a velodrome for cycling events, and dedicated courts for squash, lawn tennis, padel tennis, archery, and futsal. These facilities are designed to support a wide range of national and international sporting events while promoting grassroots talent across Punjab.
In addition to sports venues, the project will include modern athlete hostels, a sports institute for professional training and education, administrative buildings, and commercial restaurants to provide a complete sporting ecosystem. The government believes the development will encourage youth participation in sports, create new opportunities for athletes, and strengthen Pakistan’s position as a host for international sporting competitions.

Once completed, the Maryam Nawaz Sports City is expected to become one of the largest and most advanced sports complexes in South Asia. Beyond promoting healthy lifestyles and athletic excellence, the project is also expected to generate employment, attract private investment, boost sports tourism, and contribute to Lahore’s economic growth.
The Punjab government says the initiative reflects its commitment to providing modern sports infrastructure and creating new opportunities for young athletes to compete, train, and excel without having to leave Pakistan for world-class facilities.
