Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) in Islamabad has once again brought pride to Pakistan by achieving a distinguished position in the latest QS Asia Rankings for 2025.
Ranked 84th in Asia, QAU reinforces its standing as one of the region’s premier educational institutions and has secured 9th place in South Asia. Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Akhtar congratulated all stakeholders on this accomplishment. Globally, QAU holds the 315th position in the QS World University Rankings.
Pakistan’s higher education system has made significant strides over the years, with institutions striving to meet international standards despite challenges like limited funding and resources. Universities such as QAU, Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), and Aga Khan University have gained recognition for their academic rigor, research contributions, and achievements in science, technology, and social sciences. Established in 2002, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has been instrumental in improving the quality of education, promoting international partnerships, and enhancing the research landscape.
Additionally, Pakistan has invested in specialized institutions, such as the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) and COMSATS University, which focus on producing skilled graduates in engineering, IT, and sciences. These institutions are contributing to Pakistan’s ambition to become a knowledge-based economy, producing graduates who are well-equipped for modern technological demands.
Furthermore, Pakistani universities are increasingly focused on research that addresses local challenges, from energy sustainability to public health issues. This shift towards applied research has fostered partnerships with industries and international research bodies, strengthening Pakistan’s academic reputation and contributing to the country’s development in areas critical to social and economic progress.
