SIFC launches Green Tourism initiative to revitalize Pakistan’s tourism industry

The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) has introduced an ambitious Green Tourism initiative to elevate Pakistan’s tourism industry on the global stage.

This comprehensive program, in partnership with over 30 government agencies, aims to spotlight Pakistan’s tourism and its diverse attractions, including religious pilgrimage sites, mountaineering hotspots, and historical heritage locations.

Green Tourism will feature a digital platform, making it easier for travelers to book services, access expert guides, and find accommodations via mobile devices.

The initiative will also promote Pakistan through sports and cultural events, appealing to both local and international tourists. Efforts are underway to host major international events, boosting the country’s visibility worldwide.

SIFC is exploring the establishment of a dedicated Human Resource Institute and encouraging collaborations under the Green Tourism strategy. These facilitation efforts, alongside supportive government policies, are expected to significantly grow Pakistan’s tourism sector.

This structured approach highlights Pakistan’s diverse offerings, from religious tours and adventure mountaineering to visits to iconic heritage sites, aiming to make the country a prime destination for global travelers.

Pakistan’s Tourism: A step towards sustainability

The Green Tourism initiative also focuses on sustainable travel practices, aiming to minimize the environmental impact of tourism while promoting eco-friendly destinations. By encouraging responsible tourism, the program seeks to protect Pakistan’s natural beauty and cultural heritage for future generations. As part of this vision, eco-conscious travelers will be able to explore sustainable tourism options, including eco-resorts, green transport services, and conservation-focused activities.

In addition, the Green Tourism initiative plans to enhance local communities by creating employment opportunities and supporting small businesses in tourism-related sectors. Local artisans, tour operators, and hospitality providers will benefit from the increased influx of tourists, helping to stimulate economic growth in underserved regions. Through these efforts, SIFC aims to build a tourism ecosystem that is not only economically viable but also socially inclusive and environmentally responsible, ensuring that Pakistan becomes a leading destination for conscientious travelers worldwide.
