In a significant humanitarian effort, 56 Pakistani nationals imprisoned in Sri Lanka were repatriated on Monday, thanks to the coordinated efforts of Pakistan’s Ministry of Interior. A chartered flight was arranged to bring them home, including five women and 51 men, following three months of continuous communication between Pakistani authorities, led by Mohsin Naqvi, and their Sri Lankan counterparts.
Expressing their gratitude, one of the returning women thanked the government for facilitating their return, while another repatriated individual shared his relief and joy at being back in Pakistan after facing challenging circumstances during imprisonment in Sri Lanka.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi extended his thanks to the Sri Lankan government and the Pakistani High Commissioner for their instrumental role in the repatriation process. He also acknowledged Federal Minister for Privatisation Abdul Aleem Khan for his financial support, which covered the expenses of the operation as a gesture of solidarity.
This successful repatriation marks a crucial step in bringing relief to the families of these 56 individuals, a reflection of the government’s dedication to safeguarding the welfare of its citizens abroad.
