In April 2025, the Mohmand Hydropower Project reached a significant milestone with the successful completion of the excavation and support work of the power house’s main incline. This critical achievement marks an important step toward the full construction of the concrete power house, which will generate clean and sustainable energy for Pakistan. The project, overseen by China Gezhouba Group Corporation (CGGC), highlights the dedication, expertise, and resilience of the engineering teams involved in this large-scale infrastructure development.
The main incline, which spans approximately 150 meters in height, required extensive engineering solutions and technical precision. To strengthen this incline, the length of tendons anchors was increased from 800 meters to an impressive 76,000 meters. The initial excavation volume was estimated at 832,000 cubic meters; however, due to geological changes and redesigning, the volume increased to approximately 1.68 million cubic meters. These adjustments exemplify the adaptive approach taken by the construction team to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency in the project.
Throughout the project, various geological and technical challenges emerged, but the skilled workforce managed to overcome these hurdles with remarkable expertise.
