The Punjab Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced a strict new policy to tackle vehicle-related pollution, stating that from November 15, all vehicles without valid green stickers or emission certificates will be seized across the province.
According to EPA Director General Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh, the government has made emission testing mandatory in Lahore and other major cities as part of its intensified anti-smog and anti-pollution campaign. Enforcement teams are already conducting roadside checks and taking action against vehicles emitting excessive smoke or noise.

Dr. Sheikh reiterated that the Punjab government is implementing a zero-tolerance policy for environmental violations. Only vehicles that comply with provincial emission standards and display a valid green sticker will be permitted on the roads.
The move comes amid worsening air quality across Punjab, with Lahore recently ranked among the world’s most polluted cities. Authorities believe stricter regulation of vehicular emissions will help reduce smog and protect public health.
Motorists are being urged to get their vehicles tested at authorized centers before the deadline to avoid fines or confiscation. EPA officials also emphasized the importance of public cooperation in ensuring cleaner air and supporting sustainable environmental practices.
By enforcing these measures, the Punjab government aims to create long-term improvements in air quality, safeguard citizens from pollution-related illnesses, and promote responsible vehicle maintenance as part of its broader Clean and Green Punjab initiative.
