Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has lauded the remarkable unity and cooperation displayed by lawmakers in the successful passage of the 27th Constitutional Amendment, describing it as a landmark moment for Pakistan’s democracy and federal harmony. Speaking in Parliament following the amendment’s approval, the Prime Minister emphasized that this spirit of collaboration strengthens the foundation of the federation and demonstrates the maturity of Pakistan’s political leadership.
In his address, Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed gratitude to members of all political parties for setting aside differences in the national interest. “This unity reflects our shared commitment to Pakistan’s progress, stability, and constitutional integrity,” he said, noting that the amendment was the result of extensive consultations and consensus-building among political stakeholders, legal experts, and institutional representatives.
The Prime Minister also extended special thanks to Chief Justice Afridi, acknowledging his cooperation and support during the legislative process. Shehbaz Sharif highlighted that his earlier request to ensure the swift resolution of revenue and tax-related cases had been successfully implemented, improving judicial efficiency and governance. He further confirmed that the Chief Justice will continue to lead key judicial bodies, ensuring continuity and balance within the constitutional framework.

Addressing the symbolic yet significant military provision in the amendment, the Prime Minister reaffirmed that the national decision to confer the honorary title of Field Marshal on the Chief of Army Staff had been met with widespread public approval. Shehbaz Sharif hailed the 27th Amendment as a reflection of Pakistan’s evolving constitutional order, aimed at strengthening civil-military coordination, judicial efficiency, and institutional harmony. He noted that the amendment’s passage demonstrates the government’s commitment to upholding constitutional supremacy and promoting stability across all pillars of the state.
Concluding his remarks, the Prime Minister reiterated his vision of a cohesive and forward-looking Pakistan, guided by dialogue, cooperation, and respect for the Constitution. “Today, we have shown the world that Pakistan’s democracy is not only alive but capable of rising above divisions for the greater national good,” he said, adding that the 27th Amendment now stands as part of the Constitution, symbolizing unity, progress, and national strength.
