The Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Society (PES) has urged the government to establish a permanent job quota for retired military personnel in the public sector, citing their early retirement age and the importance of creating fair, merit-based employment opportunities. The appeal was made during the Society’s 64th meeting, chaired by Lt Gen Abdul Qayyum (Retd).
During the meeting, PES:
- Welcomed recent defence reforms, including the creation of the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) position, calling it an important step toward modernization and improved joint command structure.
- Supported the establishment of a Federal Constitutional Court, stating it will help reduce the burden on the Supreme Court and improve overall judicial efficiency.
- Called for stable pension levels for retired personnel and continued support for the families of martyrs.
- Emphasized peaceful diplomacy with Afghanistan, encouraging dialogue and cooperation.
- Urged Pakistani authorities to raise concerns about Indian-backed terrorism at the international level.
The PES reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for the welfare of former service members while supporting reforms aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s defence and judicial systems.
