Pakistani–Malaysian Student Team Wins Silver at China’s “Silk Road E-Commerce” Innovation Challenge

A team of three Pakistani students and one Malaysian student has won the silver medal at the 2nd Jiangsu Provincial “Silk Road E-Commerce” Innovation Challenge held in China. Their award-winning project, “The Core Connection,” is a digital supply chain platform designed to modernize and streamline the procurement of metro components for Pakistan’s urban transit systems.

Inspired by the operational success of Lahore’s Orange Line Metro Train under CPEC, the platform aims to:

  • Connect Chinese manufacturers directly with Pakistani transport authorities
  • Facilitate efficient ordering and procurement of metro equipment
  • Improve inventory management and real-time shipment tracking
  • Strengthen transparency and coordination in the cross-border supply chain

The competition, which featured 1,529 students from 50 countries, showcased cutting-edge digital commerce solutions. The Pakistani-led team distinguished itself with an innovative, practical proposal to enhance urban mobility and deepen economic collaboration between China and Pakistan.

Their achievement highlights the growing role of young innovators in advancing smart infrastructure and boosting international cooperation along the digital Silk Road.
