Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has unveiled a major international travel initiative by launching an Air–Rail (Air-to-Rail) service in partnership with rail networks in Canada and the United Kingdom. The new service allows passengers to travel by air and train on a single ticket, making long-distance journeys smoother, faster, and more convenient.
According to a PIA spokesperson, the airline has formally introduced this integrated travel option to improve passenger experience and expand connectivity beyond major international airports. The move is being described as a landmark step for PIA, as it links air travel directly with well-established rail networks in two key international markets.
Under the new arrangement, passengers flying with PIA to Toronto will be able to continue their onward journeys by train to eight major cities across Canada without the need to buy a separate rail ticket. The air and rail segments will be combined into one booking, ensuring a hassle-free travel experience.
The integrated ticketing system is designed to offer better coordination between flight and train schedules, reducing waiting times and minimizing the risk of missed connections. PIA officials said the new Air–Rail service will significantly benefit travelers by reducing transit delays, simplifying the booking process, and improving overall travel comfort. It is especially useful for passengers traveling to cities that are far from international airports, where rail travel is often the most efficient option.
The airline emphasized that the service is ideal for business travelers, students, tourists, and overseas Pakistanis, who often need reliable and flexible transport options after landing. By combining air and rail travel, PIA aims to offer a more complete and modern travel solution.
Passengers can purchase the combined air–rail ticket through all PIA booking offices, registered travel agents, the PIA website, and the PIA mobile application, the spokesperson confirmed. The booking process has been designed to be simple and user-friendly, ensuring easy access for customers worldwide.
