Pakistan’s power and petroleum ministers on Wednesday assured the nation that there would be no electricity or gas loadshedding during Sehr and Iftar in the holy month of Ramazan.
Addressing a joint press conference alongside Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik, Power Minister Awais Leghari announced that special arrangements had been finalized to ensure uninterrupted supply during the key hours of fasting.
“We have decided that there will be absolutely no loadshedding in any area — unless there is a major fault, God forbid — during the timings of Sehr and Iftar,” Leghari stated. He emphasized that the government recognizes the importance of these hours for citizens observing the fast and has directed all relevant departments to ensure smooth service delivery.
The power minister further clarified that even economic loadshedding in areas with high-loss feeders would be suspended during Sehr and Iftar. He noted that distribution companies have been instructed to strictly implement the plan and remain vigilant in order to avoid unnecessary disruptions.

Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik also assured the public that gas supply would remain stable during the sacred month, particularly at Sehr and Iftar times when domestic consumption peaks. He said coordinated efforts between the power and petroleum divisions were underway to ensure efficient resource management.
The ministers highlighted that contingency measures have been put in place to respond promptly to any unexpected technical faults. Emergency teams will remain on standby to address issues swiftly and minimize inconvenience to the public.
The announcement comes as part of the government’s broader efforts to provide relief to citizens during Ramazan, when reliable electricity and gas supply are essential for households across the country.
