Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a phone conversation with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar to discuss the evolving regional situation, including tensions surrounding Iran and the recent border clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
During the call, Wang Yi emphasized that the key to preventing further escalation in the Iran situation lies in the United States and Israel halting their military operations. He stressed that continued military actions could worsen instability in the region and increase the risk of a broader conflict. China, he said, does not support attacks on Gulf states and firmly condemns all attacks targeting civilian facilities and innocent civilians. Wang reiterated China’s position that regional stability should be protected through restraint, diplomacy, and respect for international law.

The two leaders also discussed the recent border tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Wang Yi noted that China is actively working to help ease tensions between the two neighboring countries. He highlighted that China’s Special Envoy for Afghan Affairs from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been traveling between Pakistan and Afghanistan to encourage dialogue and reconciliation.
According to Wang, the most urgent priority at the moment is to prevent further escalation of the situation and bring both sides back to negotiations as soon as possible. He emphasized that peaceful dialogue is the only effective path to resolving disputes and maintaining stability in the region.
China reaffirmed its willingness to play a constructive role in promoting communication, reducing tensions, and supporting peaceful solutions for regional challenges involving Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the broader Middle East.
