The Chief Minister of Sindh, Murad Ali Shah, has announced an extension of the Rs100 per litre fuel subsidy for motorcyclists, offering continued relief as petrol prices remain high. The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting held at the CM House, where the government reviewed the ongoing impact of rising fuel costs on daily commuters and low-income groups.
Under the updated plan, the subsidy programme will now continue until May 31, 2026, ensuring that thousands of motorbike users can benefit from reduced fuel expenses. To keep the scheme running smoothly, the provincial government has approved the release of Rs2 billion specifically for the month of May. This shows a strong commitment to supporting citizens who rely on motorcycles as their primary mode of transportation.

Currently, more than 548,000 people are benefiting from the subsidy, making it one of the largest targeted relief programmes in the province. So far, over Rs1.096 billion has already been distributed among eligible individuals. The extension comes at a time when petrol prices have recently increased following an announcement by the Petroleum Division Pakistan. Rising fuel costs have made daily commuting more expensive, especially for workers, students, and small business owners who depend on motorcycles for their livelihoods.
By continuing this subsidy, the Sindh government aims to ease the financial burden on ordinary citizens and provide some stability during uncertain economic conditions. The move is widely seen as a practical step to support mobility, reduce daily expenses, and maintain economic activity across the province.
