Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a significant reduction in petrol and diesel prices, bringing much-needed relief to millions of Pakistanis struggling with high living costs. According to the announcement, petrol prices have been reduced by Rs74 per litre, lowering the rate from Rs373 to Rs299 per litre. Diesel prices have also been cut by Rs67 per litre, dropping from Rs378 to Rs311 per litre.

The government says the historic reduction has been made possible by the sharp decline in international oil prices. Global crude markets have witnessed a downward trend in recent days due to improving geopolitical conditions and easing tensions in the Middle East. Lower oil prices have allowed the government to pass on the benefit directly to consumers.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described the move as a people-friendly decision aimed at reducing the financial burden on households and businesses. He said lower fuel prices will help decrease transportation costs, reduce production expenses, and provide relief to consumers facing inflationary pressures.

The reduction is expected to have a positive impact across the economy. Transporters, farmers, manufacturers, and small businesses are likely to benefit from lower operating costs, while consumers may see reduced prices for goods that rely on transportation and logistics. Economists believe the move could also contribute to easing inflation in the coming months.

Citizens have welcomed the announcement, calling it one of the biggest fuel price reductions in recent years. The cut is expected to improve purchasing power and provide breathing room to families affected by rising costs. With petrol and diesel prices falling significantly, many hope the relief will translate into lower prices for essential commodities and services throughout the country.
