Legendary Pakistani cricketer and former fast-bowling great Wasim Akram has reportedly shared how his spiritual journey after performing Hajj brought a major transformation in his personal life and future plans. Known as the “Sultan of Swing,” Wasim Akram revealed that the experience of Hajj deeply influenced his thinking and changed the direction of his priorities.
According to reports, after returning from Hajj, Wasim Akram decided to dedicate a five-kanal piece of land for the construction of a mosque and madrassa. The same land, which was earlier planned for a five-star hotel project in Karachi, has now been fully allocated for religious and educational purposes. This decision reflects a significant shift from commercial investment to spiritual and community-focused development.
Recently, the foundation stone of a grand mosque was laid on the site. The event was attended by several well-known personalities from the world of cricket and religion, including Inzamam-ul-Haq, Saeed Anwar, Mohammad Yousuf, and Maulana Tariq Jameel. Their presence highlighted the importance of the occasion and its emotional and spiritual significance.

Wasim Akram reportedly stated that before Hajj, he had plans to develop a luxury hotel on the land. However, after completing the pilgrimage, his mindset changed completely. He credited his spiritual experience and the influence of close friends for guiding him toward this new path. He expressed that building a mosque and madrassa is now his greatest desire, hoping it will serve as a source of ongoing charity and blessings for his parents.
He also announced that he has set aside around five crore rupees for the project and will bear any additional expenses required for its completion. The mosque is expected to be designed with inspiration from Turkish architectural styles, offering modern facilities for worshippers.
Wasim Akram emphasized that true peace comes from spiritual fulfillment rather than material success, describing this new journey as one filled with inner satisfaction and purpose.
