PM Shehbaz Sharif Praises Pakistan’s Mediation Role in US-Iran Agreement, Announces Relief in Petroleum Prices

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed the National Assembly and highlighted what he described as a historic diplomatic achievement for Pakistan, following the successful implementation of a US-Iran agreement. He congratulated the nation, as well as the country’s political and military leadership, for what he called Pakistan’s “successful mediation role” in easing tensions between the two countries.

The Prime Minister stated that Pakistan had gained significant international respect through its involvement in peace efforts, adding that such recognition is rarely achieved by nations even over centuries. He emphasized the importance of national unity, urging political parties to set aside differences and stand together for the country’s development and prosperity.

Shehbaz Sharif also announced that the positive outcomes of the international agreement would soon be reflected in the domestic economy, particularly in petroleum prices. He confirmed that a major reduction in fuel prices would be declared in the upcoming review, as global oil prices have started declining following the easing of tensions in the region.

During his speech, the Prime Minister also extended an invitation to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to visit Pakistan. He further mentioned that Iran had invited Pakistani leadership to attend the funeral ceremonies of its Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, reflecting growing diplomatic engagement between the two countries.

Shehbaz Sharif praised the efforts of key national figures, including the Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, for their roles in supporting diplomatic efforts. He also acknowledged the contributions of friendly countries such as the United States, China, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Qatar in facilitating dialogue and promoting peace.

The Prime Minister stressed that Pakistan’s role in promoting peace has enhanced its global image, and he expressed gratitude for what he described as divine blessings that brought honor to the country. He urged the National Assembly to pass a unanimous resolution celebrating this diplomatic success and reinforcing a message of unity to the world.

He concluded by calling on all stakeholders to work together for stability, economic improvement, and long-term national prosperity.
