Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested a senior National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) official for allegedly issuing fraudulent Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) to Afghan nationals. The arrest was made during a late-night raid near NADRA’s Islamabad headquarters, where investigators uncovered a well-organized operation involving multiple fake identity documents.
Details of the Illegal Operation
According to FIA officials, the accused NADRA employee had processed at least 17 fake CNICs for Afghan citizens, charging between PKR 50,000 to 100,000 per card. The fraudulent documents contained authentic NADRA security features, suggesting possible involvement of other officials in the scheme. Investigators are now working to determine whether the fake IDs were linked to larger criminal or terrorist networks operating across the region.
National Security Concerns
