Pakistan has entered a new chapter in its digital transformation with the inauguration of Sky 47 Karakoram-01, the country’s largest AI cloud and data center. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, officially inaugurated the state-of-the-art facility, describing it as a landmark project that will strengthen Pakistan’s technological future and digital infrastructure.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Prime Minister said the project represents a major step toward a modern, innovative, and digitally empowered Pakistan. He praised the rapid completion of the facility and commended everyone involved for their dedication, technical expertise, and commitment. He emphasized that advanced digital infrastructure is essential for economic growth, national development, and the country’s long-term technological progress.
The Prime Minister also announced that similar data center projects are planned for Karachi and Lahore, while stressing that government institutions should gradually be integrated into the new facility to improve digital governance, cybersecurity, and public service delivery.

Federal Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja described the inauguration as the beginning of a new era for artificial intelligence in Pakistan. She said the facility will provide modern data storage, high-performance computing systems, and advanced GPU infrastructure, enabling businesses, researchers, and government organizations to accelerate AI development and digital innovation.
According to Sky 47 CEO Hassan Abbas, Pakistan currently has only 22 data centers, despite rapidly growing demand for digital services. With the country’s e-commerce sector expanding by 25–30 percent annually, the new facility is expected to play a vital role in supporting cloud computing, AI applications, secure data management, and future technological advancements.
The launch of Sky 47 Karakoram-01 marks a significant milestone in Pakistan’s journey toward becoming a regional leader in digital technology, artificial intelligence, and cloud infrastructure.
