Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar has said that Pakistan has played an important diplomatic role in easing tensions in the region and has informed Iran about assurances received from Saudi Arabia regarding its territory. Speaking in the Senate during a policy statement on the situation involving Iran, Dar said Pakistan maintains a strategic defense agreement with Saudi Arabia but remains firmly supportive of Iran as a neighboring and brotherly Muslim country.
He explained that Pakistan sought and received assurances from Saudi leadership that their territory would not be used for attacks against Iran. According to Dar, Pakistan conveyed this understanding to Iranian authorities to reduce mistrust and prevent the situation from escalating further. He stressed that Islamabad has been making sincere diplomatic efforts to promote dialogue and avoid conflict in the region.

Dar also revealed that Pakistan has contacted several countries over the past few days to encourage negotiations and calm tensions. He mentioned discussions with the foreign minister of Oman and diplomatic outreach to nations including Turkey, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and the European Union. These efforts, he said, are aimed at bringing all sides to the negotiating table.
The foreign minister emphasized that Pakistan believes disputes should be resolved through international law, diplomacy, and peaceful negotiations rather than confrontation. He noted that Iran itself has clarified it has no intention of developing nuclear weapons and supports dialogue as the best way forward.
Dar concluded by reaffirming that Pakistan will continue playing a constructive role in promoting stability and understanding in the region.
